Short answer: The best Polymarket alternative depends on where you live. In the US, Kalshi is the closest match. In Canada, the options are narrower: Kalshi is not open to Canadians, Polymarket has been reported blocked in several provinces, and the realistic routes are limited contracts through Wealthsimple Predict or Interactive Brokers. If you only want to try prediction markets with no money at risk, Manifold uses play money.
Polymarket is reportedly blocked in some Canadian provinces, including Quebec. Check availability in your region before you sign up.
Polymarket and Kalshi alternatives compared
Prediction markets let you buy and sell shares in the outcome of real events. The table lists the main alternatives, who can use each one and what limits apply. It is a snapshot from October 2026, and availability is the part that changes most.

If you are in Canada
Canadian access is the part most "alternatives" lists skip. What we found:
- Polymarket: the Ontario Securities Commission settled with Polymarket's operators in April 2025, with a fine, a ban through 2027 and no advertising in Ontario. In July 2026, reports said its terms of service now list Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec as blocked. Those reports are secondary, so check Polymarket's current terms for your province. Our Polymarket review has the full picture.
- Kalshi: Canada appears among the jurisdictions barred under Kalshi's member agreement, so Canadians cannot open an account directly.
- Regulators: in April 2026 the Canadian Securities Administrators and CIRO said no prediction market is recognized as an exchange or registered as a dealer in Canada, and warned of possible enforcement.
- Regulated route: Wealthsimple announced Wealthsimple Predict in 2026, authorized by CIRO in March, with about 4,000 contracts sourced from Kalshi. It is limited to economic, financial-market and climate contracts that settle in 30 days or more, with no sports or elections, and reportedly has income or employment thresholds. Interactive Brokers offers ForecastEx contracts to Canadian clients on similar limits. We could not confirm whether either is open to Quebec residents or fully launched, so check before you plan around them.
If you live in Quebec, the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) is your regulator. We found no AMF warning about Polymarket or Kalshi specifically, but the absence of a warning is not approval.
If you are in the US
Kalshi is the closest alternative: a CFTC-regulated exchange with identity checks. Crypto.com Predictions, Robinhood Predictions, Underdog Predict and PrizePicks Predict operate in many states, and PredictIt is open to US citizens. Polymarket also has a US product built on a regulated exchange, and its rollout has been staged. State rules vary, so check your state. For a direct comparison, read Polymarket vs Kalshi.
Crypto-native alternatives
Limitless and Myriad run on blockchains and use wallets instead of accounts. They can have lower barriers, but liquidity is thinner outside crypto markets, there is usually no identity check, and you carry the wallet risk yourself. Treat them as higher risk. Never connect a wallet that holds more than you can afford to lose.
Risks to know first
How to choose
- Start with where you live. That decides what is legal and available more than any feature.
- Check fees. Fee formulas have changed more than once in 2026, so read the current fee page.
- Decide how much risk you want. Regulated exchanges give you more protection than wallet-based platforms.
- Try play money first. Manifold lets you learn how markets work without risking cash.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best Polymarket alternative?
There is no single best one. Kalshi is the closest match for US residents. Canadians cannot use Kalshi directly, so the realistic options there are limited contracts through Wealthsimple Predict or Interactive Brokers. For learning without money at risk, Manifold uses play money.
What are the best Kalshi alternatives?
For US residents: Polymarket US, Crypto.com Predictions, Robinhood Predictions, PredictIt, Underdog Predict and PrizePicks Predict. Outside the US, options depend on your country. For Canadians, Wealthsimple Predict and Interactive Brokers carry Kalshi-sourced or exchange-based contracts with limits.
Is Kalshi available in Canada?
Not directly. Canada appears among the jurisdictions barred under Kalshi's member agreement, according to secondary reports. Wealthsimple Predict offers contracts sourced from Kalshi to Canadian clients, with limits on categories and settlement time.
Is Polymarket legal in Canada?
It depends on the province. The Ontario Securities Commission settled with Polymarket's operators in 2025 and Polymarket has been reported as blocking Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec since July 2026. Canadian securities regulators also warned in April 2026 that no prediction market is recognized as an exchange or registered as a dealer. This is not legal advice, so check your provincial regulator.
Is there a free or play-money alternative?
Yes. Manifold uses play money (Mana) with no cash payouts. Its real-money option ended in March 2025.
Are Polymarket alternatives safe?
No prediction market is risk-free. Regulated exchanges with identity checks offer more protection than anonymous crypto platforms, but every platform can lose you money and rules change. Only use money you can afford to lose.
